Arthur Rollins, China Inspector

Arthur started work at Royal Worcester in 1931 at the age of 14. His first job was in the grinding department, grinding small lumps off the middle of plates before they went for glazing. He then progressed to being a china carrier and then to the Inspection Shop. His job there involved checking the chinaware for specks and cracks. In 1940 Arthur joined the Staffordshire Regiment during WW2, returning to Royal Worcester in 1946. Soon after his return, he became Foreman of the Biscuit Warehouse and Inspection Shop. Arthur was in the factory’s football team and among other memories, recalls Christmas parties and Royal visits. He retired in 1983.
