Virtual Time Travel Trail – a short film

Did you come along to our Virtual Time Travel Trail in October 2023? Here’s our short documentary film produced by Chin Badger Media, sharing some of the highlights from the night and local responses to it. A chance to see some of the event if you didn’t make it on the night as well as to revisit it if you did!

A huge thankyou to all our local venues and volunteers who made this event so special! And a massive thankyou to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama who produced our amazing projections – they were spectacular!

We are pleased to announce that our Virtual Time Travel Trail will take place on Thursday October 27th, 6pm-10pm. Come along and see our fantastic historic photographs and memories from local people projected onto three external buildings around the city: The Commandery, St Swithun’s Church and corner of Cornmarket, as well as internal projections within some of our fantastic heritage buildings, including Worcester City Museum and Art Gallery, Tudor House Museum, The Greyfriars, The Infirmary Museum and Royal Porcelain Works. Historic buildings around the city will be open for the evening and there will be a chance to come along and see our 1950s High Street exhibition again at The Guildhall.

Projections are being created by the internationally-renowned Guildhall School of Music and Drama – it will be a spectacular free event and an opportunity to hear the stories of local people as never before.

  1. Henry Sandon Hall, Royal Porcelain Works – The Dr Ordered Clay In 1951 the Worcester Porcelain Company commissioned John Stuart to make a documentary to bring to life their pioneering ceramic manufacturing process, starting with the mining of clay in Cornwall, right through to the decoration of the final product. This 20-minute film celebrates world-class ceramic heritage, where it was made, now the regenerated site of Royal Porcelain Works. It features ‘Princess Elizabeth on Tommy’, at her first trooping of the colour, on police horse Tommy. This was Royal Worcester’s first ever limited-edition model and has been selected as one of the Museum’s 25 Showstopper objects.
