Keith started at Royal Worcester as a mould maker in 1970. His job was to mix Plaster of Paris to the right consistency and pour it into cases, creating moulds for various types of tableware. Keith spent about a year doing this before being made redundant. He was immediately offered another job, this time as a labourer in the Useful Casters. Keith soon joined a team of four in the Useful Casters – the team consisted of a caster, a tipper, a scrapper and an unmoulder. Keith became the scrapper. His team were known as the ‘Heavy Gang’. Keith went on to become supervisor of the Cup Shop. His department soon incorporated plate and dish makers, and he eventually took over as Clay Manager in charge of the mould makers and ornamental casters as well.
