Pat Wurmli (nee Martin) started in the typing pool at Royal Worcester in 1950, working with a number of other girls under Miss Glover in a long ‘brown’ room in the offices near the factory’s Front Lodge. Pat mainly took dictation and typed letters. These were often responses to complaints from customers or details of orders. Her best memories of Royal Worcester are Princess Elizabeth’s visit in 1951 and joining the Royal Worcester Drama Group which was run by a man called Tony Chiles. She recalls being the lead part in two plays. She got married and moved to Switzerland in 1954.
